Systems Administrator (Mid-Senior Level)

Warsaw, Poland
Full Time
Experienced

fusionSpan is a dynamic, fast-paced hybrid and remote work environment that prioritizes innovation, trust, and community in everything we do. We are a team of highly-committed individuals inspired by technology's impact on society, and we recognize our work's role in the well-being of our nonprofit clients and the communities they serve

As an AI-first organization, we keep our eyes tuned to the horizon, finding new ways to leverage cutting-edge technologies in ways that drive improvements in operational efficiency and impact, both for our clients and for our internal team.

This is a long term b2b contract. You will be working remotely from Poland with US-based team members. We would want some flexibility with hours, so a typical day would be from 11.00 to 19.00 or from 12.00 to 20.00 CEST/CET.

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Systems Administrator to own the health, security, and connectivity of the platforms that fusionSpan runs on. This is a hands-on individual contributor role for someone who has already spent several years administering enterprise systems and is ready to take full ownership of an environment rather than work tickets inside someone else's.

You will sit at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, enterprise SaaS administration, and software integration. Our business runs on Salesforce and AWS, connected to the SaaS applications our teams work in every day. Keeping that ecosystem secure, well-governed, and talking to itself correctly is the job.

You will support colleagues in Poland and in the United States, working the same scope of problems as a counterpart based in our Rockville, MD office.

What the Day-to-Day Looks Like

The work is a mix, and the balance shifts week to week:

  • Standing up a new integration, migrating or consolidating a platform, rolling out device management policy, tightening an access model, or automating a process that is currently manual and error-prone.
  • Working the ticket queue for our SaaS applications. Access requests, onboarding and offboarding, license assignments, permission and group changes, configuration questions, and the "this suddenly stopped working" reports that need someone to actually diagnose them rather than restart them.
  • Monitoring, patching, backups, security posture, cost visibility, vendor release management, and keeping documentation current.

You should be comfortable moving between a multi-week infrastructure project and a same-day access request without treating either one as beneath you. Both are the job.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise SaaS Administration

  • Administer the business-critical SaaS applications fusionSpan runs on, including Salesforce, Google Workspace, Jira, Confluence, Slack, Zoom, BambooHR, QuickBooks, Cloudflare, Granola, Claude, and Iru MDM.
  • Own identity and access management across the SaaS estate: user provisioning and deprovisioning, SSO, role and permission models, group membership, and periodic access reviews.
  • Run onboarding and offboarding from the systems side, making sure new hires have what they need on day one and departing employees lose access cleanly.
  • Manage device enrollment, policy, and compliance through our MDM platform.
  • Manage licensing, renewals, vendor configuration, and application lifecycle work such as release evaluation, sandbox testing, and controlled rollout.
  • Handle and resolve the SaaS-related ticket queue, and escalate to vendors when an issue is genuinely theirs.

Cloud & Infrastructure

  • Administer our Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure: IAM, compute, storage, networking, and cost visibility.
  • Keep systems patched, monitored, backed up, and recoverable. Know what is running, what it costs, and what happens when it fails.
  • Implement and monitor security best practices across all managed platforms to safeguard company and client data.
  • Apply infrastructure as code, version-controlled configuration, automated deployment, and meaningful monitoring and alerting where they make sense.

Integrations & Automation

  • Work directly with REST/SOAP APIs to build, maintain, and troubleshoot integrations between diverse software platforms.
  • Own the connective tissue between Salesforce and our core tools, and keep data synchronized and trustworthy across systems.
  • Write logic and scripts that automate manual workflows and reduce the number of things a human has to remember to do.
  • Identify and resolve integration failures, authentication problems, and API bottlenecks to ensure high system availability.

Investigation, Requirements, and Solutioning

  • Take ambiguous requests and unclear symptoms, trace them back to root cause, and explain what you found in plain language.
  • Sit with stakeholders across the business, ask the questions that surface what they actually need (not just what they asked for), and turn that into a clear set of requirements.
  • Evaluate options, weigh tradeoffs, and recommend an approach. Then build it, test it, and see it through.
  • Maintain clear, up-to-date technical documentation for system architecture, integration mappings, access models, and workflow logic.

Stakeholder Management & Prioritization

  • Act as a technical bridge between internal teams and external clients, translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Provide day-to-day systems support to our Poland-based team as well as colleagues in the US.
  • Manage a diverse queue of technical tasks, balancing immediate support needs with long-term infrastructure projects.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in systems administration, IT operations, DevOps, or enterprise application administration, with demonstrable ownership of production systems.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (preferred), Information Technology, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related technical field. Equivalent professional experience is accepted in place of a degree.
  • Hands-on administration of at least one major cloud platform, AWS preferred.
  • Hands-on administration of enterprise SaaS applications, including identity, permissions, and integration configuration. Salesforce experience is a strong plus, but deep admin experience in comparable enterprise platforms is equally valued.
  • Working proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language (Python, JavaScript, Bash, PowerShell, or similar). You should be able to write a script that calls an API, parses the response, handles errors, and runs unattended.
  • Solid understanding of API architecture: REST and SOAP, authentication and token flows, payload structure, rate limits, and error handling.
  • Practical grasp of networking, identity, and security fundamentals as they apply to cloud and SaaS environments.
  • Comfort working in a technical environment: command line, log files, stack traces, version control, and vendor documentation.
  • Good English communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working fluency in Polish. This is not a requirement, and we welcome strong candidates without it, but you will be supporting Polish-speaking colleagues day-to-day, and being able to do that in their first language is a real advantage.
  • Salesforce Administrator certification, or AWS Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator certification.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience supporting or integrating financial and HR systems.
  • Prior experience working with US-based clients or on a distributed international team.
  • Experience in a consulting or professional services environment.

How You Work:

  • Demonstrated ability to investigate a problem you have never seen before and work it to a conclusion, rather than escalating at the first dead end.
  • Strong instincts for requirements gathering: you ask clarifying questions early and you are comfortable pushing back when a request does not make sense.
  • Proven ability to learn unfamiliar systems quickly and independently.
  • Ownership. You follow through on what you pick up, and you speak up when something is going sideways.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to manage expectations for both internal stakeholders and clients.
  • Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.

Technologies You Will Work With

We do not expect prior experience in every item on this list. We do expect you to have gone deep on a comparable stack somewhere else and to ramp quickly on the parts that are new.

  • Core platforms:     Salesforce, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cloudflare
  • Collaboration and productivity:      Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Jira, Confluence, Granola
  • Business systems:       BambooHR, QuickBooks
  • Device and endpoint management:      Iru MDM
  • AI tooling:      Claude
  • Integration and automation:      REST and SOAP APIs, JavaScript and Python, Postman

This is a position that will allow you to grow your career in a high-growth US-based company. Needs good English communication skills. The position is 100% remote.
